You can find beach life, family-friendly or glamorous, only 25 minutes away. The 'free beach' near Forte dei Marmi invites both young and old to have fun in the sun.

You can also take a trip down after a day's work to enjoy the sunset, with the added bonus of having the beach (virtually) all to yourself, since the tourists leave early in the evening.

Or if you prefer, you can enjoy the exclusiveness of a luxury resort with your own booth, with sunbeds and a pool right next to the sea.

Surfer and yachtsmen will understand why many world champions come from the Versilia: There is hardly ever a moderate breeze to be found here so you have to get inventive!

You can also take a boat from Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi or La Spezia to Cinque Terre or to the islands Tino and Tinetto in the gulf of La Spezia where they quarry for the Port'oro marble
