The course focuses on realistic as well as abstract paintings. Surrounded by the fascinating Tuscan landscape it offers plenty of opportunities to broaden the visual perception with courage and passion for experimentation using a variety of materials.

Our inspirational sources for paintings and sketches will be the extraordinarily impressive bed of the 'marble river', the sea as well as the pure and natural environment surrounding us. We will begin with simple studies concentrating on composition, light/shadow, perspective and colour-form-contrast. Exercises in creativity which were specially created for this course, like 'blind painting' or 'night painting' will spark an open and lively atmosphere and encourage the sheer joy of seeing things  'in a different light'. Also included are special topics like the exploration in theory and practice of so-called 'non-colours' (e.g. White)
With increasingly confident brush strokes and colour combinations you will be able to carry your own compositional ideas into your pictures. A program with exciting excursions and events awaits you.
Please bring along a small amount of your own materials. We supply acrylics, tempera, pigments, various types of paper, brushes, chalks, graphite and ink. Canvas can be bought at cost
