Free and Figurative, between Calculus and Intuition

In this course we will pursue the following questions: How do I find my own topic? How do I develop my individual style and my own artistic concept?

The starting point of the visual process is the material: paints, primer, paint bases., canvas etc. But is the creative approach dictated by the material or does the artistic idea find its own appropriate material?

In the morning hours you will learn and practice various main topics at different places (excursions into the Tuscany surroundings): the creative tension between perception of nature and liberal interpretation, between calculated planning and spontaneity, realistic and free, experimental and academic compositions, with different techniques and strategies. 

In the afternoons you have time to develop your own themes. In group discussions and individual studies we will reflect and review your personal approach. The tutor will present traditional and contemporary positions to stimulate and broaden the discussion.

The “Workshop Painting” is open  to beginners as well as advanced students who wish to expand their skills. Prior knowledge is not necessary.

Please bring along: basic equipment of preferred painting utensils. Further material such as papers of different quality, cotton cloth, primer, paints etc. will be supplied.
